“Doğanın Arzu Nesnesi” 5 Aralık 2012 – 5 Ocak 2013 tarihleri arasında Olga Alexopoulou, Sedat Akdoğan ve Serkan Çalışkan’ın eserlerinden oluşan karma sergi ile Art Suites Gallery Beyoğlu’nda bir araya geliyor.
Son yıllarda sermaye birikimi yüzünden, dünya genelinde ekosistemin dengesini yitirmesi sonucu küresel kriz ile beraber doğayı daha fazla sorgulamaya başladık. Doğa bize sunduğu nimetlerin yanında, hiç beklemediğimiz bir anda bize karşı yıkıcı gücünü de göstermesine rağmen insan ve doğa arasında ki ilişki kapital sistem sayesinde genel olarak parçalanmış görünüyor.
Sanatçı Olga Alexopoulou’nun işlerinde doğanın kendi iç dinamiklerinin etkisi üzerine yapılan işlerin yanında, daha önce duvarlara graffiti olarak yaptığı çalışmalarının bazılarını, aynı uygulama biçiminde galeri mekanına tuval yüzeyinde yeniden üretiyor. Ayrıca resimlerinde ki güçlü fırtına çağırışımı ile hem soyut hem de resimsel etkileri sayesinde bir yandan uzak doğu resimlerinin şiirsel dinginliğini de hatırlatıyor.
Sedat Akdoğan, dijital çağda doğa üzerine düşünmemizi gerektirecek nedenleri sorguluyor. Kendi portresini kuruyan toprağın altından yaşam alanı sağlamaya çalışan böcekler ile beraber kurguluyor. Doğanın çöküşüne karşı verilen ruhsal reaksiyon gibi. Sanatçının dijital ortamda ürettiği çalışmalarında kullandığı simgelerin doğa ile ilişkisi ve göndermeleri oldukça düşündürücü.
Sanatçı Serkan Çalışkan’ın, toplumsal cinsiyet, kimlik, ötekinin ne olduğuna dair incelediği resimlerinde, özgün eksperis bir tavır ile resmettiği ve resmin içine dahil ettiği yazılar ve simgesel formlar ile dikkatimizi çekiyor. Resimlerin ironik isimleri üretilen eser ile bir bütün halinde, yapıtı oluşturan temel yapı taşı, ayrı bir şekilde düşünülemez gibi.

“Desire Object of Nature”

The group exhibition “Desire Object of Nature”, composed of the works of Olga Alexopoulou, Sedat Akdoğan and Serkan Çalışkan, is presented to the appreciation of the audience at Art Suites Gallery Beyoğlu between December 5, 2012 – January 5, 2013.
In recent years, we have started to question the nature more with the global crisis as a result of worldwide ecosystem’s losing its balance due to capital accumulation. Although the nature shows us its devastating power in an unexpected manner in addition to its blessings, the relationship between humankind and nature seems to have broken apart because of the capitalist system.
In the artist Olga Alexopoulou’s works, in addition to the works on the influences of the nature’s own internal dynamics, the artist reproduces some of her originally graffiti Works at the gallery on the canvas surface. The works also reminds one of the serenity of the Far East Asian pictures in some aspects thanks to the strong storm associations and abstract and pictorial effects.
Sedat Akdoğan questions why we should ponder over the nature more in a digital age. He fictionalizes his own portrait with the bugs that try to have a habitat under the drying soil. Like the spiritual reaction to the collapse of the nature. The associations and references of the symbols the artist uses in his works, which are produced in the digital media to the nature are quite thought-provoking.
In Serkan Çalıkan’s works, which investigate gender, identity and what ‘the other’ is, the expertise attitude toward various subjects and the scriptures and symbolic forms included to the picture are quite remarkable. The ironic names of the pictures are perceived as integrated with the work itself like the building block which can’t be dissociated from the art piece.
